Privacy Policy.
What we collect, why, and the choices you have.
J. Layne Legg Photography (“we”, “us”, “Jess”) is a family, wedding and destination photographer based in North Georgia. This policy explains what we collect from you, why, and the choices you have. Effective October 12, 2026.
1. What we collect
When you enquire or send a questionnaire: your name, email address and phone number; where you are based; the kind of session you want, dates, places, budget range and the story you tell us about yourselves; a photograph of yourselves if you choose to attach one; your Instagram or TikTok handle; and the page the form was sent from.
When you join the newsletter: your name and email address, and the fact that you agreed to receive our emails.
When you book a time online: the details you give the booking calendar, which is provided by Google Calendar appointment scheduling or Calendly. Those services handle that information under their own privacy policies.
When you visit the site: the usual technical information a web server records, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit. The site remembers a small amount in your browser so it does not show you the same pop-up note twice.
2. How we use it
To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, hold and plan your session or wedding, and deliver your photographs. To send you the newsletter if you asked for it. To keep our records of bookings and payments. To keep the website working and safe.
3. Marketing and your consent
We only send marketing emails to people who have asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time. Stopping the newsletter does not affect any booking you have with us.
4. Who sees your information
Your information stays with us. It is stored by the services we use to run the business: our website host (WP Engine), the forms on this site (Gravity Forms, stored on our host), our email service, the booking calendars named above, and the gallery service through which we deliver photographs. Each of these only processes your information so that we can provide our services. We do not sell your information and we never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Photographs of you
The photographs we make are personal to you, and we treat them that way. We may show photographs from sessions in our portfolio, on this website and on social media; if you would rather we did not, tell us in writing and we will not. Photographs of children are only ever shared with a parent’s agreement. A photograph you attach to an enquiry is used only to put a face to your message.
6. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to two years so that we can pick a conversation back up. Booking records are kept for as long as we need them for our accounts and any legal obligation. Photographs are kept as part of our archive. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it; to stop using your photographs in our portfolio; or to stop sending you emails. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you have these rights under the UK GDPR and the GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. Write to us through the Enquire page and we will respond within a month.
8. Children
This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 through it. Information about children in a family session is given to us by their parent or guardian.
9. Keeping it safe
Our website is served over an encrypted connection, access to our accounts is protected, and we keep backups of the photographs we make. No system is perfectly secure, so we ask you not to send us anything you would not want stored, such as card details, in a form or email.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows the current version. Questions about it are welcome through the Enquire page.
