Terms & Conditions.
How we work together, from the first enquiry to the finished gallery.
These terms set out how J. Layne Legg Photography (“we”, “us”, “Jess”) works with you when you enquire about, book or receive photography from us, and how you may use this website. Please read them with your signed agreement, which always takes precedence where the two differ. Effective October 12, 2026.
1. Enquiries and quotes
Sending an enquiry, a questionnaire or a request for a call does not book a date. Prices shown on this site, including anything built in the investment guide, are a guide and not a quote. A booking exists only once an agreement has been signed and, where one applies, a deposit has been received.
2. Booking a session or a wedding
Family, couple and portrait sessions are secured with a signed shoot agreement. Weddings and elopements are secured with a signed agreement and a deposit of 15% of the total, which is non-refundable because it holds your date against other enquiries. The remaining balance is due one month before the wedding. Payment plans are available on request and agreed case by case. Dates are held in the order that signed agreements and deposits arrive.
3. Mini sessions and appointments
Where a session or a call is booked through an online calendar on this site, the time slot is a reservation only. A follow-up email with a short agreement confirms it, and the slot may be released if that agreement is not returned.
4. Rescheduling, weather and cancellations
Outdoor sessions depend on the light and the weather. If conditions on the day would not do your photographs justice, we will offer the next available date at no extra cost. If you need to reschedule, please give as much notice as you can; one reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice is free, and later changes may carry a fee set out in your agreement. If you cancel a session, fees already paid are refunded less any costs we have already incurred. Wedding deposits are not refundable, but may be transferred to a new date where our calendar allows.
5. Travel and destination work
Sessions within 40 miles of Gainesville, Georgia include travel. Beyond that, and for any session abroad, travel, time and accommodation are quoted trip by trip and form part of your agreement. Where travel depends on flights or weather, we will always have a plan for the day, but we cannot be responsible for delays outside our control.
6. Film and digital
We photograph on film and digital. Film is a physical, light-sensitive medium: frame counts given on this site are approximate, and the look of a roll varies with light and processing. That variety is the point of film, and no particular image can be promised in advance. Where a format includes digital images, the numbers given are typical, not a minimum.
7. Delivery
Family and couple galleries are usually delivered between three days and two weeks after the session. Wedding galleries usually take four to eight weeks, with a sneak-peek selection within 48 hours of the day. Film takes longer to develop and scan than digital, so the more film in your session, the longer the wait. Galleries are delivered online and stay available for the period stated in your agreement; please download and back up your images within that time.
8. Copyright and your use of the photographs
Jess owns the copyright in every photograph she makes. When your balance is paid you receive a licence to use your photographs for personal, non-commercial purposes: printing, sharing with family and friends, and posting on your own social accounts. Please do not apply filters, crop heavily, or edit the images, and please credit J. Layne Legg Photography when you share them. Commercial use, and use by vendors or venues, needs our written permission.
9. Our use of your photographs
We may use photographs from your session in our portfolio, on this website, on social media and in printed materials to show our work. If you would rather we did not, tell us in writing before or at the time of booking and we will respect that, with no change to your price.
10. Safety and conduct
You are responsible for yourselves, your children and your guests during a session, including on our farm. We will never ask anyone to do anything unsafe, and we may stop a session if conditions become unsafe or if anyone is treated disrespectfully.
11. If something goes wrong
We carry backup camera bodies and, for weddings, a second shooter, and we take great care with film and files. If photographs are lost or damaged through equipment failure, processing error, illness or events outside our control, our liability is limited to a re-shoot where that is possible, or a refund of the fees you have paid for the affected part of the work. Our total liability to you will not exceed the fees you have paid us.
12. Using this website
The photographs, words and design on this site belong to J. Layne Legg Photography or are used with permission. You may not copy, scrape, or reproduce them without permission. Booking tools and forms on this site are provided for genuine enquiries only.
13. The law that applies
These terms, and any agreement with us, are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
14. Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows the current version. Questions about them are welcome through the Enquire page.
